Cards for my next class...

I'm going to take you on a trip through the scary process my mind does before making cards... Did I mention it was scary? HAHA I dont always go through this process but I find myself drawing out an idea more often for my class cards then just for regular cards I need to make. But again it really just depends on if I can go make it right away or if I want to remember the idea. I needed to make my samples for my next class on Feb 25th and I wasn't able to sit and make them so I grabbed some paper and drew a few ideas. Below are the drawing and the final sample card for class. Don't be scared :-)

Here I wanted to use the Penny Black Valentine "All you Need" cling in a non-valentines way.

I ended up using butterflies instead of clouds to make it more FRIENDly

Here is the card next to the drawing.
Here is the funniest drawing of them all. What are those O's and F's you ask? Music notes? Symbols? Look at the next picture and find out!
They are Keys!! HAHA Good thing Hero Arts draws better Keys then me :-) I paper pieced this flower instead of coloring it!

Here is the final and possibly my favorite! I couldnt really figure out how to draw it but since I knew what stamp I planned on using it was okay! (Looks more like sea shells!)
But it the beautiful Starburst Lace stamp from Hero Arts!

Well Those are my cards and I hope you like them. I was very happy with the way they came out. Lots of embossing and inking on these cards. "Just for you Katie the inky queen!" :-) I should of taken a picture of my fingers haha

Well until next time!

CHA Highlights and Pics

CHA was at the end of January and I got to go with Stamp Fever this year. There is so much hype around going but it is really for retailers to see what they want to order for their stores. I got to walk around with Linda (Stamp Fever's Store Manager) and we had a blast. We went by the Faber-Castell booth and I was explaining that my Idol Jill Foster makes lots of videos with their color pencils. So Linda suggested I see if they have a make in take where I could try them out. We went to sit down and as I was putting all our bags down, Linda leaned over and whispered in my ear... "did you see who;'s helping us?" I quickly looked up to my surprise to see my Idol miss Jill Foster!!! I just love Jill's videos and all the beautiful work she creates. I swear all of a sudden got all giddy! I even asked for a picture!!

Here are Jill and I at CHA!

Here are Kathy, Linda and I at the Lawn Fawn booth with their giant props from their Say Cheese line.

Valentine's Day card

My husband and I have been together for a total of 17 years this year. Now I wasn't always a crafter so store bought cards were always handy. But now that I spend most of my free time crafting, it's only right he gets a handmade card. But after many valentines, bdays, anniversarys etc it becomes harder and harder to think of a good concept I haven't done yet.

I was cutting hearts from my last card class shaker card in mid January and the idea and memory came to me. You see many many years ago my darling husband bought me a dozen roses. They were red and just stunning! In the middle of the red roses was one white rose (Me) He said his love surrounded me. I've never forgotten about that and decided to make him a card to show him I still remembered. Here is what I came up with...
I cut the hearts out with the Nestabilities heart die in Real Red Cardstock from Stampin Up. Then I cut one heart with Kraft Paper so it would be brown *My husband is Latin :0) I used Lawn Fawn stamps to create my own sentiment.

I REALLY loved how it came out and he loved it too and even noticed that I made (him) brown :-)

Coloring Classes

Well I taught a beginner Copic Coloring class 2 saturday's ago at Stamp Fever. I was very excited when my first class filled up, then my second, then my third and I even ended up teaching a 4th for those that didn't get to take the others. We took it from a Copic coloring class and added the new Spectrum Noir markers from Crafters Companion which we started carrying at Stamp Fever. I was able to take a workshop at CHA and learn all about them.

I had so much fun at my coloring classes and got to meet so many new ladies that are just getting into coloring with Alcohol Markers. All in all I had 33 lovely ladies join me for my classes. I was so touched by the support they gave me after class. We've decided to continue on with the coloring classes and do them once a month. Many if not all the ladies bought some new Spectrum Noir markers and planned to go home and color. So at my next class even the beginners would of had a month to play around with these great markers. I cant express enough how blessed I am and how excited I am for my next classes.

Here are the cards we made.

This card is made with Penny Black's "Floral Story" and the Background is stamped with Penny Black's "Zen Background"

This card I've posted prevoiusly but is stamped with Penny Black's "Butterfly Suite"
I can't wait to show you the cards I'm creating for my next card class, as well as my next coloring class! Stay tuned :0)
